Hospitals
I am working with other local MPs to fight the possible closures of Accident & Emergency and Maternity units at all the hospitals which serve the Wealden constituency.
Severe cuts are being proposed for the Princess Royal in Haywards Heath, The Kent & Sussex in Tunbridge Wells and Eastbourne District General.Approaching one hundred thousand people have already signed petitions to save the hospital services.
If enacted, it could mean that Wealden residents would have to travel to Maidstone, Brighton or Hastings for A&E or maternity facilities. The paediatrics ward at Eastbourne is already being reduced.
We will continue to maintain pressure on the Government to see that the recently announced state of the art hospital to be built in Tunbridge Wells contains all of the units currently under threat at our local hospitals so that Wealden’s people can rest confident that they are in good hands.
